The compulsory CE marking on machinery opens the doors of Europe to you.

In exchange for this the European regulations lay certain obligations on you. The CE marking on machinery indicates conformity with all applicable European directives (or with their transposition into national law) that require such marking. Logically it is the Machinery Directive that contains the most specific requirements for machinery. Nevertheless conformity with the Machinery Directive is not necessarily sufficient and for many machines other directives wil also have to be followed. So particularly when one first becomes acquainted with this issue the situation can come over as reasonably complex. Our intention is in short, in a practical and straightforward way, to set out the various steps that are necessary in order to place on the market or put into service a machine in Europe.

Sinds begin 2017 kunnen bedrijven de milieu-impact van hun bouwmaterialen laten opnemen in een publieke databank die wordt beheerd door de FOD Volksgezondheid, Veiligheid van de Voedselketen en Leefmilieu. Voor fabrikanten die een milieuboodschap of -label aanbrengen op hun producten is dit verplicht. Aan elke opname gaat een verificatie vooraf, uitgevoerd door een onafhankelijke derde partij. Vorige maand werd Vinçotte door de FOD erkend voor het uitvoeren van deze taak.

De milieu-impact van een gebouw wordt niet enkel bepaald door energiebesparende maatregelen of technieken. Ook de gebruikte bouwmaterialen bepalen algauw 10 tot 30% van het totaal. Om een precieze inschatting van hun aandeel te maken, is een levenscyclusanalyse (LCA) onontbeerlijk. Zo'n analyse gaat de volledige impact na: vanaf de winning van ruwe grondstoffen tot en met de afvalfase.

Publieke databank voor bouwmaterialen

Bedrijven die een milieuboodschap op hun bouwmaterialen aanbrengen, moeten hun producten verplicht registreren in de databank voor milieuproductverklaringen. Ook voor fabrikanten die producten zonder milieulabels op de markt brengen, kan de databank interessant zijn. De gegevens zijn immers publiek toegankelijk. Architecten, overheden en consumenten kunnen ze raadplegen en zullen in de toekomst hiermee de totale milieu-impact van een gebouw kunnen berekenen.

Op een aantal uitzonderingen na is voor elke registratie in de databank een verificatie van de levenscyclusanalyse verplicht. In juli 2017 heeft de FOD Vinçotte officieel erkend als onafhankelijke derde partij voor het uitvoeren van deze verificaties.
