Fire Safety inspection of reels & fire hydrants

Vinçotte provides periodic inspections of fire hydrants and reels.

Fire reels

The fire reel, or armed fire damper, is a fixed fire-fighting device located in buildings and ‘ready to use’ thanks to its permanent connection to the water source. Moreover, any non-specialist can act when a fire breaks out thanks to its rapid deployment and ease of use.

During our inspections, we check, among other things, accessibility, visibility, the presence of operating instructions and the absence of deterioration, corrosion or leaks. We can also perform a pressure test, unwind the hose along its entire length and perform a water flow test.

Fire hydrants #

Fire hydrants are water taps used by firefighters. They are found inside buildings in the form of wall hydrants and outside buildings in the form of hydrants or buried hydrants. They are used to supply dry hoses for firefighting or to connect fire hoses.

Besides annual maintenance of hydrants by a specialised company, inspection ensures that the equipment remains functional and available. Our inspections include checking accessibility, visibility and the absence of deterioration, corrosion or leaks. We can also measure flow and pressure.

Employers are required to have an inspection of fire hydrants and reels carried out by an inspection body to ensure that workers can work safely with them in case of fire.
