Inspection of smoke and heat exhaust ventilation systems (SHEV)

Smoke and heat exhaust ventilation (SHEV) systems are devices that remove smoke and heat from rooms where fire breaks out. They facilitate evacuation and protect the building against smoke and water damage.

Smoke and heat evacuation systems are devices used to evacuate smoke and heat from a room damaged by fire. They facilitate the evacuation of people and the intervention of the emergency services and reduce the impact of smoke and heat on the building.

Vinçotte is accredited to carry out inspections based on the following Belgian standards:

  • NBN S 21-208-1 applicable to large non-partitioned indoor spaces extending over one level (e.g. industrial production hall, storage building, sales area)
  • NBN S 21-208-2 applicable to covered car parks
  • NBN S 21-208-3 applicable to ventilation openings in interior stairwell
