Standards

Flanders imposes rigorous regulations for tank inspections to safeguard safety, the environment, and technical compliance. Under the supervision of the Department of the Environment and local environmental authorities, these regulations mandate periodic inspections of above-ground storage tanks containing hazardous substances, which must meet stringent standards and be carried out by recognised inspection bodies.

4.0 Tank Inspections

Process
#

01 #

Intake and inventory #

All relevant information is gathered and recorded concerning the tanks scheduled for inspection. This covers technical specifications, documentation, background to inspections, and any customer requirements or goals.

02 #

Defining plans and techniques #

An inspection plan is drawn up defining the scope, the techniques and methods needed, and the procedures to be followed. For example, identifying potential risks and determining the expertise and resources required.

03 #

Implementation #

The inspection plan is put into effect during this phase, when qualified inspectors and technicians are assigned to carry out the onsite inspection according to the established procedures and methods.

04 #

Digital delivery & evaluation #

Once the inspection is completed, Vinçotte's 3D visualisation tool is used to analyse the collected data, to determine if all requirements have been met and identify any potential discrepancies or issues.

05 #

Adjusting inspections and frequency #

Adjustments are made to the inspection procedures, techniques, or frequency when results indicate the need for changes. These adjustments may involve recommending further inspections or adapting the frequency of future inspections to meet both the results and the customer’s needs
