The latest meeting of the ASME NQA international working group Europe, Middle-East & Africa took place in the offices of Vinçotte in Belgium on 9th July 2024.
This working group of the ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers) evaluates and guides the NQA-1 (Nuclear Quality Assurance) standard.
The meeting was attended by 35 members and visitors (on site and on line). Several topics were discussed :
- The applicable regulation and the use of ASME codes & standards at Barakah nuclear power plants in the UAE,
- The application of IAEA safety guide on ageing for the study of the life time extension at Doel 4 and Tihange 3 nuclear power plants in Belgium,
- When Cybersecurity meets Safety and Quality,
- Various approaches about Counterfeit, Fraudulent and Suspect Items,
- Clarity of language in ASME NQA-1 standard,
- Reporting of defects and non-compliance according to 10CFR21 in the USA,
- Challenges and benefits of ASME III certification for a small size Material Organization,
- The revision process of ISO 9001 and ISO 19443 standards.
The discussions were very productive and we are looking forward to the next meeting that will be hosted by IAEA in Vienna, Austria on 13th December 2024.
